I've decided that I need to keep a better record of my children's lives otherwise they will be all grown up before I blink. So, we have started this blog "My Sweet Cacoozies". So, what is a "Cacoozie"? Well, this is a term that Michael used a couple of days ago to describe the stage when a caterpillar changes into a butterfly and it stuck. So, welcome to My Sweet Cacoozies!

My New Favorite Treat

Okay . . . so, I have found my new all time favorite treat. I like chocolates, but you never know what you are going to get with the cream filled ones and even the good ones aren't that good. Then there are the Carmel and the nut ones. But this treat tops them all. It has just the right texture for a really excellent chocolate . . . and it looks like you are talented, but it is really, really easy.
Step #1
Pick out your favorite type of cake (from the box of course) and bake it according to the directions on the box.
Tip: Don't let the cakes get too brown on top (like I did) because then the top layer of the cake doesn't crumble as well.
(Isn't the top of Mikey's head cute?)
Step #2
Let the cake cool COMPLETELY. Then cut up the cake into big chunks and throw it into the Kitchenaid.

Tip: It is best to let the cake sit overnight. If you get anxious and don't wait till it is completely cool the texture doesn't turn out as good.

Step #3
Turn the mixer on until the cake is all crumbled up.

Tip: If you did let the top of the cake get a little too brown (like I did) then you just shake the bowl from side to side a little and all of the larger pieces will come to the top and you can pick them out and feed them to the kids.
(The texture should look something like this)
Step #4
Take a pre-packaged tub of frosting and add it into the cake crumbs. Turn the mixer back on until it is well mixed (scape the sides of the bowl).

(The texture should look something like this)
Step #5
Scoop the mixture out and roll into little balls.
Tip: If the mixture sticks to your hands too much, just put it in the refrigerator for a while and it will stiffen up.

Step #6
Dip the balls into melted chocolate. I highly recommend the Wilson's brand which you can get at any cake decorating store, Jo-ann's, or Michael's.

And then if you want to get really fancy you can decorate the tops of them with sprinkles, colored chocolate or anything else you desire.
I really love Ziploc bags for this type of stuff, you just put some melted chocolate in the ziploc bag. Cut off the corner and drizzle away. When you are done you throw the bag in the trash and there is no clean-up!!!
There you go . . . easy and really, really good. You can make any flavor you want. I've tried the following and they were all excellent:
- Red Velvet Cake and Cream Cheese Frosting (but it turns your hands red)
- German Chocolate Cake and German Chocolate Frosting (my personal favorite)
- Yellow Cake and Chocolate Frosting (the one shown above and my works favorite)
- French Vanilla Cake and Lemon Frosting (Todd said I should have dipped this in white chocolate, but I didn't have any)
- A friend also made Cookies and Creme
