Project #1 - I hate getting the laundry soap out and putting it away. Solution: My Costco sized containers of liquid detergent, softener, and color safe bleach now sit on a self in my laundry cupboard with hoses attached to them so that I only have to take the hose down dispense the liquid and hang the hose back up.

Project #2 - I hate laundry bags and sorting laundry and walking all over the house to get all of the laundry on laundry day. Solution: I'm putting in three laundry chutes (one for lights, whites and darks because in my world those are the only categories. I don't believe is special handling of any apparel) . If it isn't in the chute it isn't going to get washed. I'm almost done with this one and will post pictures once I'm done.
Project #3 - I hate folding laundry. I'm the person who has piles of clean laundry hidden somewhere in the house because I haven't gotten around to folding it yet. In which case I end up wearing wrinkled cloths all of the time. Solution: I got one of those little kids toy holder shelving units and cut it in half. It now fits perfectly between my washer/dryer and the cupboards above. Now the laundry stays in the dryer until I sort it and hang it up.

One day I may actually learn to like laundry . . . or at least not completely despise it.
Very inventive! And I'm so jealous of your laundry room!
ReplyDeleteI love the three laundry shoot idea! I have one laundry basket with three divisions that sits between the bedrooms. It has worked really well for this apartment. One of the houses that we were looking at in NM had the laundry room upstairs. Dangerous for the home owners insurance, but what a great way to do laundry!!
ReplyDeleteThe hoses look like more work, but I'm jealous of the potential chutes. Recently, I've started washing things by rooms (boys' room, our room) and then I fold them in that room, so they are instantly put into drawers or hung up. It's made the putting away process way easier.
