I've decided that I need to keep a better record of my children's lives otherwise they will be all grown up before I blink. So, we have started this blog "My Sweet Cacoozies". So, what is a "Cacoozie"? Well, this is a term that Michael used a couple of days ago to describe the stage when a caterpillar changes into a butterfly and it stuck. So, welcome to My Sweet Cacoozies!

Did I Tell You . . . We Go to the Opera!!

We have some friends in LA who have season passes to the Los Angeles Opera. Three times so far they have invited us to go with them. The first time I felt kind of silly. Todd and I just are not fancy enough to go to the Opera. But we had a lot of fun with our friends and actually enjoyed the opera more than I thought we would. The people watching was fantastic. The first opera was an Italian opera (Il Trittico). It was a good opera for 1st timers like us, because it was really three smaller operas in one. All three of them were very different from each other . . . kind of like the sampler platter at Denny's. Luckily for the uncultured people like me, they have a screen up at the top with "subtitles" so that I could still figure out what was going on. The 2nd time we went and saw Madame Butterfly (also in Italian). I liked the story line, but it had a very slow pace. It was much more "contemporary". The third one was my favorite. It was the Magic Flute. This one was in German. I thought the German language had a lot more variation and feeling to it. I also liked the story line . . . which was a little silly. The Magic Flute is by Motzart, but reminded me of Shakespeare. I really like the Opera now. It's also really fun to dress up.

  1. I love the dress up part, but I don't think I could handle it if it were in a different language.
